One of the discussions that pops up from time to time in recent weeks is whether or not Penn State will be in the running to bring in transfer quarterback Danny O'Brien, from Maryland. It is an idea I threw out there in the wild when wfe learned that O'Brien was officially looking to transfer, and it is one that I feel would be a good move by Bill O'Brien and his coaching staff if they want to make a drastic move at the most important position on the team.
Given your options of Matt McGloin, Rob Bolden and Paul Jones and the musical chairs under center that could be a realistic possibility at any point in the season, or Danny O'Brien, a former ACC Rookie of the Year who could grasp a pro-style offense and have two years of eligibility remaining, which way would you turn? The truth is there may be no wrong answer to that question. But the only answer that counts is what Bill O'Brien would do.
There have been rumblings that Penn State is in the running, but nobody really knows at this point. The way Bill O'Brien and the staff have been working recruiting (with a big decision being made tomorrow night), a pursuit of Danny O'Brien certainly would not be out of the realm of possibility.
We discuss briefly on today's edition of The Nittany Minute.
